CHIN 143

CHIN 143 (3 credits) – Term 2 (4hrs/week)

CHIN 143 is a continuation of CHIN 141. This course aims to develop heritage language learners’ communicative competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing in spoken Mandarin and modern written Chinese , with special emphasis on reading and writing. By the end of CHIN 143, the students are expected to be able to master an active vocabulary of 600 Chinese characters, to have a good command of part of the basic grammar, idiomatic expressions, sentence patterns, Mandarin pronunciation, and basic reading and writing skills in the Chinese language.

Prerequisite CHIN 141 or equivalent
