Chinese Language Exemption Examination–HSK
Students may satisfy the language requirement in Chinese by proving the appropriate competency through examination. No course credit will be awarded for satisfaction of the language requirement in this manner. All students who wish to be exempt from the Faculty of Arts foreign language requirement (equivalent to Basic Chinese Level – CHIN 234 or 244) are required to take the official Chinese Language Proficiency Test. The minimum Passing Grade for language exemption is:
Old HSK (before 2010): Basic Level A or above
New HSK (2010- ): Level 3 or above
