PURPOSE:

Our Online Life” is an Instagram event held by the Chinese Language Program! We want to showcase what our students and faculty members have been up to as we go through our day-by-day online.

Maybe you attend your Zoom classes and meetings still wearing pyjamas where they can’t be seen on camera — heck, maybe you don’t even leave your bed when it’s time for your morning lectures. We’ve all been there!

Whether you’ve been clocking in your daily cardio with Chloe Ting’s workout videos, or whether you’re just getting out of bed at 12:00 pm, we want to see it all! In the spirit of uplifting our fellow students and faculty members, we will be showcasing a series of videos in the spirit of expectations vs. reality. Check out our sample video for an example, and keep scrolling for all the details.

The final event will be a series of videos showcasing a complete day-in-the-life of CLP faculty members and students, which will be displayed on our Instagram story.

GUIDELINES:

• Content:

We would like you to choose 1 out of these 6 time slots (9:00 A.M., 12:00 P.M., 17:00 P.M., 21:00 P.M, 23:00 P.M, 12:00 A.M.) and film a short video at ONE of these time points, about what your day is like at that time.

For example, in the sample video, our TA chose the time slot of 9:00 am, so he filmed the “expectations” of him attending his morning class, and the “reality” of him still getting out of bed behind the scenes.

Check out our sample video

We want to see an interesting contrast between the expectations of your daily life (attending meetings, going to class) and the reality of it (sitting in your pyjamas, etc).

Here is a detailed guideline sheet: “Our Daily Life”

•  Format:

Please film 2 short videos, with a maximum time limit of 15 seconds for each video. The first video should show the “expectations” side of your daily life, while the second video should show the “reality” side (please check out the sample video!). We hope that you can (honestly 😉 ) show the gap between the different sides of you.

•  Filming:

Please film your videos vertically!

•  File format:

.mp4 or .mov files.

• Naming conventions:

Name_CLPVideo_1, Name_CLPVideo_2, etc.
