INTERVIEW

My craving for Chinese food and in turn, the necessity to pick-up the language to place orders fluently.

Lin laoshi was a gem — she was extremely approachable and encouraged us to ask questions. Every week, she would compile any grammatical mistakes we made in our assignments and would go through it with the class to refresh and reinforce the content we learnt.

Learning Mandarin has given me access to a plethora of new information and I just feel fulfilled that its sounds and characters have become familiar and intelligible to me, whether it be in songs, movies or passing shop names. This and that I can rap in Mandarin. - to an extent!

I think I'd just want to surround myself with the language. Maybe I'll pick up a drama or two.
