August and September Training session 2018

Date: August 27-29, September 8

Location: Asian Center Auditorium and C.K. Choi Building

From August 27th to 29th, The Chinese Language Program hosted their training session for all Teaching Assistants, Work Learns and Volunteers.

The training session workshop was offered to allow TA’s, WL’s and Volunteers to be familiar with the structure of CHIN courses, understand the policies and code of conduct of the department, learn how to correctly and effectively assist Chinese learners in oral practice sessions, and acquire essential skills relating to event planning. Additionally, our TA’s were also trained to be familiar with the marking rubrics and canvas management for their responsible classes.

As there were vast numbers of passionate students who applied to join our volunteer team during the first week of classes, two additional training workshop sessions were held in the morning and afternoon of September 8th to accommodate the huge responses.

TA’s, Work Learn’s and Volunteers attended the sessions with enthusiasm. Their dedication to helping the Chinese Language program was greatly appreciated by our department instructors.  Everyone that attended was devoted to their new role, they listened attentively and participated in all the activities with great passion.

The training session was a huge success with over 200 students attending. The Chinese Language Program is proud to say that we have a huge family of volunteers and we look forward to the term ahead with the help of new faces. The department would like to thank all the students and faculty members for volunteering and supporting the event!
