金猪报喜 诸事大吉——2019 农历新年庆祝会】

The Department of Asian Studies would like to invite you in joining the “2019 Lunar New Year Celebration— Year of the Pig.” The event will be held at the Nest Atrium Lower Level from 11am to 4:30pm on February 8th, 2019.

The Lunar New Year marks an important holiday and is celebrated by many Asian countries, significantly for China, Korea, Vietnam and Singapore.

According to the twelve Chinese zodiac signs, this year will be the year of the pig, which symbolizes wealth in Chinese culture. Their chubby faces and big ears are signs of fortune. We would like to take this opportunity to express our warm greetings and best wishes to all of you.

At the Lunar New Year celebration, there will be spectacular performances by our students, as well as activities to participate in and prizes to be won.

Performances:

  • Lion Dances
  • Student Flash Mob
  • Korean Drumming
  • K-pop Dance
  • UBC CMC (Chinese Music Club)
  • UBC Cloud T. Dance Club

Hands-on cultural activities:
